They're two separate ways TikTok pays creators. One pays for qualified views on long videos; the other pays a commission when someone buys a product through your content.
| Creator Rewards Program | TikTok Shop affiliate | |
|---|---|---|
| Paid for | Qualified views on eligible videos. Rewards are calculated dynamically from view origin country, number of views, engagement and view authenticity (Program Terms). | Sales of products you promote: (Revenue − Refunds) × Commission Rate. |
| Who can join | 18+, personal account in good standing, at least 10,000 followers and 100,000 video views in the last 30 days, in an eligible country (US, UK, Germany, Japan, South Korea, France, Mexico, Brazil per Creator Academy). | Set by TikTok Shop's affiliate requirements in your market; check the TikTok Shop app in your account. |
| Video rules | Original, over 1 minute, at least 1,000 qualified For You views; not a Duet, Stitch or Photo Mode post; ads, paid promotions and sponsored content don't qualify. | Your content links or tags the product; brand rules apply. |
| Timing | Shown in TikTok Studio's dashboard as estimated rewards. | Typically the 15th day after delivery, up to 31 days (US). |
TikTok's Creator Academy says ads, paid promotions and sponsored content don't qualify for Creator Rewards. So a paid brand deal video generally won't earn Creator Rewards too. Plan which videos are for which program, and log it in your tracker.
At least 5 seconds of watch time (30 seconds for Search views), excluding fraudulent or paid views and "Not interested" taps, with repeat views from one account counted once (Creator Academy).
